That was a weekend that was!!!

Well we had a very pleasant 5 hour bus ride to Singapore last Thursday leaving KL at 8:00 AM arriving just after 1:00PM. Checked into the hotel, The Gallery which is really 'trendy' and headed out shopping. Jan couldn't wait to get to Holland Village. It's a real expat area but things are pretty cheap there. For those of you who have seen our fake Chinese master, that's where it came from. Found a couple of interesting things but not too much. Jan was disappointed she didn't get to spend much money!!

Thurs evening we wandered along Clarke Quay and a lovely dinner, complete with a Singapore Sling, at a restaurant called The Forbidden City (look for it on the Clarke Quay website if you're interested).

OK, so Friday morning we headed for the Singapore Science Centre and the long awaited Star Wars Exhibition. Here's the ticket! We spent several hours just wandering around the halls from Episode I to VI, checking out all the neat stuff. There was even 'The Chair' that belonged to the man himself:

I was a little disappointed that there were none of the Yoda figures and so I had to be content with drawings and a wall hanging featuring the little fella and some original film from the movie.

Maybe some more pictures at a later date as blogger seems to want me to upload every photo twice tonight for some reason.

Friday we had another really nice dinner, at our hotel this time, washed down with a glass of Aussie red and some very nice background music from a girl and a guy with a guitar.

Saturday morning all hell broke loose with my stomach I'm sorry to say! I'll spare you the details but needless to say I was in no fit condition to handle the return bus ride that evening (note it was not an over-indulgence of that good Aussie red as I only had one glass)! So we booked the hotel for another night(at twice the cost of the previous two nights which had been booked over the Internet) and rebooked the bus for Sunday evening.

By Sunday arvo' I wasn't feeling so bad so we headed out to the quay again and a ride on the Singapore River in a 'bum boat'. Stopped off part the way round and had lunch at O'Brian's sandwich bar.

We had both forgotten about St Patrick's Day but soon got caught up in the proceedings as there was a parade just about to start. Alright, I'll try another piccie. This one's of some of the 'local' Irish 'talent'.

Well I think that will do for now. It's time I went to bed. More later. And, yes we made it back Sunday night at about 11:30 and I was in class at 8:30 Monday morning!
