It's nearly time to leave Oz!

Well it's been a pretty busy few weeks and my apologies for not writing sooner.

We did have lunch with Peter and Marilyn Hughes in their new 'Lifestyle' village home. I didn't find my old office because the whole site was razed and completely rebuilt! The village is really great with lots of facilities and P&M are very happy there. Good on yer Tuna!

We had a lovely week end on Hindmarsh Island with Sean, Leanne, Jasmine & Tamika. The weather was a bit damp but the sun shone through every now and again and allowed us to go for a walk in the woods on Saturday morning and then take the girls to the park in the afternoon.
Sean and I cooked a BBQ for dinner and we headed back to Adelaide after breakfast the next morning as the weather was pretty wet.

On our way back from Hindmarsh Island we called in to see some other friends of ours who have recently moved closer to the city. Charles & Cathy Clennell used to be in Malaysia with us and had arranged to have lunch with some other ex members of our Malaysian team who now live in Adelaide. It was really great to be able to catch up with John, Carol and Christine as well.

Then it was off to Tasmania to spend a few days with Mike, Liz and Louisa and see how Mum & Dad were getting on. The weather was really cold but luckily we had an electric blanket to snuggle up in at night. Mike bought himself a new car while we were there and we had a nice time catching up with everybody.

At the week end we stopped off in Melbourne on our way back to Adelaide and Heather & Neil came over for the week end too. Neil and I sampled some local ales and Jan & Heather had several hot chocolates. We went to the Southbank markets on Sunday and checked out the art scene before heading to the casino for dinner. Some more shopping followed on Monday morning and we flew back to Adelaide later in the day.

Last Saturday evening we had dinner with Sean & Leanne, Laura & Randall at the River Cafe overlooking the Torrens. It was a lovely evening and then we went back to Laura & Randall's for dessert. Laura and Jan had made a banana and caramel pie to celebrate my birthday (which was back in April but of course we were not in Oz at the time).

And of course the latest news is, that as I write, Laura is in Calvary hospital awaiting the birth of 'Bub'. The doctors have been a little bit concerned recently because the scans have shown some kidney problems and last week they decided that it would be a good idea to bring 'Bub' into the world a little early to avoid any kidney damage. Jan & I will be leaving Adelaide tomorrow morning for sunnier climes so we hope all goes well later today. We will let you all know when it does!!!
