We had a pleasant few days in New York with Darius, Kristi and Lucian, who had only arrived home from hospital a couple of hours before we landed. Darius has a couple of weeks off work to help him settle into life in the big apple and he and Kristi soon learnt that time isn't your own once there's a baby in the house. Parenthood certainly seems to suit them though and I don't think it'll be long before they get the routines sorted out. Jan & I went to a Peter, Paul & Mary Christmas concert on Friday evening at Carnegie hall which was fantastic. It was a little sad though as Mary is quite sick and had to be brought on stage in a wheelchair. She sang several songs though and everybody appreciated the effort that she had obviously made to be there.
We had lots of cuddles before we headed off on Saturday morning to New England to catch up with Christine & Alan, and give the new family a chance to establish themselves. We caught the train from Grand Central Station and Christine and Alan met us at Newhaven and drove us back to their house in Belchertown. The last time we were there was in summer and everything looked so different this time with most of the trees bare. And it was pretty cold!
We had a nice dinner out that evening with Christine, Alan, Dan, Lorna, Dale & Nick. Imagine our delight when we awoke the next morning to find that there had been a light snowfall overnight. We rugged up and ventured outside after breakfast for a photo and then quickly got into the warm car.
We did some shopping during the day and ended up at the local Irish pub for dinner. As it was Thanksgiving last week and Christmas is rapidly approaching, turkey seemed to feature big on the menu. I found it hard to go past the turkey stew which was huge and really tasty.
Today we have a few errands to do and then tonight Christine & Alan's daughter and family are coming around for dinner. Jan & I are heading back to New York tomorrow sometime to spend a few more days with Darius, Kristi and Lucian before heading back to the UAE on Friday.
I'll put some more New York photos on later, which could include one or two more of Lucian.
