Jan's been away to Kuching for three days and got back safe and sound. The two pictures above show one of the schools that she visited (with the multi-coloured teachers' accomodation) and a general view of Kuching. Her presentation went well despite not having the latest version of Powerpoint on the laptop she was using (not all the bells and whistles worked as planned)! But, hey, it's not a perfect world! (Not sure why I have to use so many exclamation marks? Are the points all worthy of one? UUMM!) She says that everybody enjoyed their time together and the chance to talk about what's happening in their respective schools (and not happening in some cases).
This week she's off to Langkawi for another round with the teachers from the north (and the chance to bring back some duty free gin!).
I read the SMH most days and saw the controversy over the new Tourism advert which uses the expression at the end "So where the bloody hell are ya?" The article linked to the advert which, whilst I thought it was 'bloody' good, I wonder how it would translate to an overseas audience who may not understand the nuances of our colourful language! Let me know what you all think.

I've been reading about it as well, although haven't actually seen the advert yet ... when I heard about it, I must admit that I thought the reaction was a little overdone ... bloody hell isn't exactly swearing, is it? (Atleast not these days??)
Having said that, your point is a good one ... I wonder if they did any focus testing of the idea with offshore groups before deciding to do it?

I don't mind the ad but the word isn't really necessary! There has been lots of controversy here about it, on the radio, on a current affair. Most people don't mind the ad, and most people don't think it's swearing, but all agree it's not necessary. Has anyone seen it on telly?
