Rainforest World Music Festival

Well life goes on and time is passing so quickly. Two weeks ago Dad & I headed over to Kuching in Sarawak to attend the Rainforest World Music festival once again. We went 2 years ago and enjoyed ourselves so thought we'd book to go again. This is the 9th year it's been running and it's getting more well known now with about 8,000 people travelling to this remote part of the world to enjoy the festival in the rainforest. There were bands from about 8 different countries performing over 3 days and nights. The Festival took place at the Sarawak Cultural Village about 45 kms from Kuching town and during the afternoon there were several workshops held in the traditional long houses.

The program for each workshop focuses on a particular instrument or groups of instruments and the artists get together for a jam session and then everyone joins in and tries their hand at the instruments etc. In the evenings there were concerts on two stages set in the rainforest with the trees lit up as a backdrop. A magical setting. Posted by Picasa

What? Dad wasn't up on stage with them this time? Glad you had a good time, sounds almost 'hippyish'!
