Well we are now into our second week of teaching. Today we took our students to a book exhibition and they had to find examples of different types of books. It was good to see the enthusiastic way in they approached the task. A little different to the students in the last country we worked in!
I've added a few photos to the slide show on the right, including a couple of the house. We have rented a car for now, a Mazda 6, and will be looking to buy when we get our residence visa (might be a few weeks yet). The Hilton Beach Club is only a few minutes drive and a nice place to relax or enjoy a meal. The menu is quite varied: from local to European. Many tour groups come here from Europe this time of the year to escape the European winter.
Jan and I are really enjoying our teaching at HCT. The guys range from privates to captains in the main, but we've got one major in one class. Jan has two classes and she teaches both military English and general English using an HCT written web based course. I'm teaching General English to one class and I have two classes of web based activities. We both teach 20 hours a week.
The weather is starting to warm up during the day but is still pretty cool at night. Last Friday we took a spin over to the east coast and I'll post some photos when I can. The countryside is vastly different from Malaysia! Very dry, lots of mountains and sand hills and many date palm plantations.
OK, so that's a quick update. I hope all are well and that everything is going well for you wherever you are.
