Kombis

As most of you would know we've always liked Kombi vans. Over the years we've had a few of our own and each one has been special starting from the old yellow one we bought before we were married, and shared with Ron's parents, it had doors that opened outwards and we had many a great time travelling in it. We even took it on our honeymoon to Sydney (but not with the parents)!!!!!!

As the children grew up we bought another and this time it was blue. We use to go camping in it with Ron, Jan & Laura sleeping on the double bed at the bottom and the boys sleeping on the top pull out bed. Double decker style. We then splurged and got a tent that attached to the side of it which helped with providing a bit more undercover space.

In 1995 we bought a 1975 fully converted blue and white Kombi which was in an amazing condition and although it was 20 years old it still purred like a kitten and we did many trips in it from Sydney to Melbourne and Hobart then back to Adelaide. It had all mod cons installed.

Since we've been travelling around we've found Kombis all over the world including Korea, as a juice van, Thailand, as a Post Office van, Syria, for local transport and one in Melbourne, selling noodles.
