Yes, I know (it's been a long time between posts)!

Nearly a month since I last wrote and it was Nanny who berated me this morning. What can I say??? It's been busy at work? Well, yes it has, but things are beginning to sort themselves out. Next week will be week nine of a nineteen week semester and after a pretty slow start, what with Ramadan and Eid holidays, it has taken a while to get all the student information and levels sorted out. Recently we had an HCT staff conference in Dubai to celebrate the start of our 22nd academic year. All the staff attended and there were overseas speakers and of course, an address by our chancellor. It was a good day and gave us a chance to catch up with our colleagues from the other colleges in the UAE.





Last weekend Jan & I stayed over in Dubai on Friday night so that we could attend some property and investment seminars by an Australian firm who specialize in dealing with expats. As we are heading towards retirement we thought it was about time we thought about what we might do in a few years time. It has given us some food for thought. Now we will have to look at some options and decide what might be the best thing(s) for us to do.

Yesterday we took our classes to an IT exhibition in Dubai, GITEX, which showcases the latest technology in phones, computers etc. We were a little disappointed as there was no APPLE display. Still, you can't have everything I suppose. There were lots of bargains to be had and Jan did buy a new Nikon camera and I bought a new pair of 5.1 headphones. Now I can listen to MY music without disturbing Jan! The photos here were taken with Jan's ......phone, NOT her new camera, so don't try blowing them up because they're not too good. But they do give you an idea of what went on at both events.
