September Update

Thanks for the comment Darius. It has prompted me to put fingers to the keyboard (doesn't sound quite the same as pen to paper does it?) and up date everybody else. I'm sure there are some people who maybe don't know that Jan is in Adelaide or why. I rang Granddad this morning and he didn't know. After my last post when I said that Mrs Smedley (aka Jan's mum) had pulled through her delayed op OK, and would be out of hospital in a couple of weeks, things took a bit of a nasty turn. It seems she got an infection internally which caused her to have a bit of a temperature and an inability to keep her food down. She's being fed intravenously at the moment and has been on several anti-biotics. Last I heard they appear to be doing the trick but it's going to be a few weeks yet before she gets out of hospital. The upshoot of it all was that Jan decided she couldn't just sit here and do nothing so she hopped on a plane last Wed and headed for Adelaide.

Of course that meant that I had to go to Brunei on my own. The conference and staff workshop went well and I caught up with Peck & Ronnie, Meng & Vanessa and one or two others from the 'old days'. Unfortunately I forgot all about taking the camera and so have no photos to post. I did mange to buy some Australian Cadburys chocolate though from the supermarket at duty free prices and am doing my best to save some until Jan comes back! I stayed with one of the guys from our Brunei office and got to see a bit of the place as we travelled to and from the conference and the office. Brunei has changed quite a bit and I'm sure I'd get lost if I was driving myself.

Unfortunately the Air Asia plane was somewhat delayed and I didn't get back to KL until 3:30 on Sunday morning!!! I had a bit of a rest that day and was off to Malacca for out National Ministry/CfBT Annual Conference on Mon. It was a hectic few days but all went well (even without Jan to hold my hand). Have had the last three days doing nothing as we had a public holiday for National Day Fri + the weekend. Back to work tomorrow.

Thanks to everybody in Adelaide who's been looking after Jan and I hope to see her back soon.
Will keep you all posted. Oh, and Happy Father's Day to all the Dads!!
